10/13 PLF BoD Statement
Dear Community,
We hear you, and we understand that trust, safety, and accountability are important to our community.
The Party Liberation Foundation is committed to fostering safer spaces where everyone can participate without fear of discrimination, harassment, or harm. Our values include consent, respect, and inclusion, and we recognize that upholding those values requires more than having policies in place. It also means regularly checking in on how we put these values into practice and how we handle concerns when they come up.
PLF has an established process for reporting concerns involving events or members of our community, though that process has evolved over the years. Recent conversations have highlighted the importance of making sure our procedures are clear, accessible, and consistently followed. At last Wednesday’s public meeting, we reviewed our existing policies and invited community feedback on how we can strengthen our approach. Several community members have since stepped forward to help establish the proposed Standards Committee, which will help with our ongoing work around accountability and community safety. We are grateful to everyone who has shared their perspectives and offered their time to help us grow as a community and an organization.
We are also reviewing new information related to an incident from 2017 involving members of our community. One individual involved in the incident has been disinvited from PLF spaces for several years, without an option to revisit and reevaluate this status. Their disinvitation is permanent and will not change. As we review the additional information that has recently come forward, another individual has been placed on hiatus while we work to determine appropriate next steps. We recognize the seriousness of these concerns and are committed to approaching this with care.
We also acknowledge that aspects of our reporting process have not always worked as they should. In particular, we recognize that the community member did not receive an Incident Report Form in a timely manner when concerns were previously brought forward in April of 2026. We apologized for this directly to the affected individual, and then later to the community during last Wednesday’s meeting. We understand that our responsibility is not only to have a process in place, but to ensure that it is accessible and handled appropriately and timely when someone comes forward.
We are mindful of the privacy of those directly involved and will not share identifying details or information that could compromise that privacy. At the same time, we understand the community’s need for clarity about how concerns are received and addressed. We want to be more transparent about our policies, reporting procedures, and the steps we are taking to strengthen accountability within PLF.
To support that effort, we are sharing our meeting notes, our document outlining the proposed Standards Committee and the future of the incident reporting process, and our Incident Report Form below. Additional information about our policies are available on our website.
We know that trust is built through actions over time. We are listening to the concerns being raised, reflecting on where we have fallen short, and working to build processes that better support the safety and wellbeing of our community. We encourage members of our community to consider joining the Standards Committee so that it reflects the diversity of our community and represents a range of voices and perspectives. We also welcome thoughtful feedback and suggestions as this work continues, and appreciate everyone who has taken the time to share their perspectives and support our community through this process.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being part of the PLF community.
With Sincere Love and Dedication,
The PLF BOD
